We are G6 Adventures! We travel part-time, but we are full-time adventurers. Eric and Kelly are the “adults” of the family, and I do use that term loosely sometimes (especially when talking about Eric). We have four kids, all girls (no need to feel sorry for Eric), ages 4 to 15. And, we round out our crew with two large dogs (a boxer and a goldendoodle), both female for anyone wondering. We are quite the traveling circus.
Our travel adventures started over five years ago when we were a family of five with a pop-up camper. We immediately caught the travel bug. Just a couple months later, we discovered we were adding to our brood. Not knowing how we’d fit a crib in a pop-up, we decided to upgrade to a travel trailer. Two years later, we upgraded to a fifth wheel. This year, we found that it was becoming infeasible to travel with six of us and two large dogs in our Chevy Silverado. It literally looked like a clown car as we all piled out at any given destination. So we made the switch to a Holiday Rambler Vacationer 36F motorhome.
Eric and I have full-time jobs, but we are incredibly fortunate to have the ability to travel a fair amount each year. We book our trips based on school calendars and sports schedules (to an extent) and are restrained by work schedules. However, we travel quite a bit more than the average non-full-time-RV family. On the other hand, we don’t live in our rig. We don’t have the ability to travel most places during their off seasons. Usually, we need to book campgrounds in advance, because we can’t be terribly flexible with our schedules. We generally can’t abide by the 3-3-3 rule, or we’d never get very far. Plus, we’re planning trips to accommodate preschoolers, preteens, teenagers and adults. For these reasons, we think we can offer a unique perspective into the family RV travel world.
We consistently look for the adventure in life – big and small, near and far. Things come and go, but memories can last a lifetime, and we always try to make memories for our family. Join us as we share our part-time travels and full-time adventures.
